I'm married to an alcoholic very bad one. She is to the point of daily/nightly blackout drinking. She has been this way for years and I have worked around it and stayed in it "for the -". Within probably 4 months she was back on the vodka and things were just as bad or even worse than before. About 6 years ago her liver started to malfunction and she swelled up like she was 9 months preg. She had to have fluid and the Dr. told her the liver would not take another hit like that. With-in weeks she was drinking again and has continued since. Over the years the verbal and physical has been directed at me and I put up with it and kept the sheltered from it. I became quite good at working around it. Anyway, here we are today. Last week she verbally assaulted my 19 yo daughter and chased her down the hall. My daughter ended up locking herself in her room and ed me (I was at work)I comtemplated ing the but while I was on the phone the wife left my daughters door and passed out. A few days later she was drunk and slapped a friend of my daughters boyfriend who was in our garage working on his car. She was drunk and did not remeber any of it. This week I've gone to a counselor and have plans to move out as as I can find a place. Sorry this is so. I am looking now and as as I find a place I am going to sign the lease and then when I have a safe place to go I'm going to tell her. My 18 yo has already moved out and told me he is not coming back if she is drinking, my daughter wants to move out but cannot afford it as she is going to college full-time. I want to leave but hate having to do it this way. I really would like to be able to tell her I am looking and planning to move but I really know I can't do that because once she hits the bottle there be hell to pay for all that are in the house.
